Every year, I view how rapidly time passes. Summer, with its heat and humidity, its sun and showers, the green of the leaves and the spectacular reds of the sunset sky, seems to vanish more quickly than some other seasons. Perhaps it is the realization that fall with its yellow and brilliant orange leaves and pumpkins will flash by and lead to the vision of the ice cold winter white blanket that covers the land with its presence.
This post was begun in 2021; it is now November 6, 2025. Tuesday, the 4th and election day, was sunny and warm, deceptively so. Results of the election were mixed in this area, but as is typical, for the most part the Republican party prevailed here. One notable exception was that the sitting head judge, up for retention, was bounced out. Given the fact that they made many questionable decisions on bail for sexual assault and pedophile offenders, with much commentary by local citizens publicly, it was no surprise. Statewide, three judicial candidates up for retention were successful. Again, locally, there was sadness from the usual suspects, those who are against liberal mindsets.
Wednesday, the 5th, was a harbinger of the inevitable climate change that is rapidly approaching. Wind advisories were posted, justifiably, because it was definitely blustery. If you didn’t “nail” things down, they likely ended down the street or in a neighboring yard.
Today, the 6th, is gray and chilly, with the forecast for following days/weeks to be a definite reminder of the changing environment that precedes winter. Age is not lost on me at this point, as I see the shortening time ahead of me, the winter of my existence. I didn’t treat the springs and summers of my life with the love and care they deserved. I deeply regret that.
